Writing from the studio.

A growing collection of essays and field notes on the craft of digital experience — what we are reading, building, debating and learning. Most pieces are written by the team for an audience of practitioners, but anyone interested in how enterprise digital platforms get made will find something here.

What we write about

Digital experience trends, design systems as competitive infrastructure, integrating AI without losing the human touch, scaling MVPs into platforms, designing for true inclusivity, performance as a feature and the discipline of Core Web Vitals, choosing the right digital partner for an enterprise engagement, and reflections on nearly two decades of studio practice.

Recent essays

Digital Experience Trends Shaping 2026 (annual research vlog), Why Mature Design Systems Are a Competitive Advantage, Integrating AI Without Losing the Human Touch, From MVP to Platform: A Scaling Playbook, Designing for True Inclusivity, Performance as a Feature: A Core Web Vitals Field Guide, and MadeByCat — 19 Years of Digital Craft.

Who writes here

The MadeByCat studio team — strategists, designers, engineers and operators — collectively author the essays. Most pieces are credited to the studio rather than individuals because the writing reflects shared practice rather than personal opinion. When a piece is more personal we credit the author by name.

How often we publish

We publish roughly one essay per month, with deeper research pieces (such as the annual trends vlog) released quarterly. New pieces appear at the top of /articles and are also distributed via LinkedIn. The full archive is browsable below.
